Meet the Astro Candle: a unique scent and poem dedicated to your zodiac sign

Whether you’re a cozy Taurus, a dreamy Pisces, or a fiery Leo, there’s a candle with your perfect scent waiting to adorn your bedside table.
Astro Candles is the latest multimedia project by Ars Poetica. A melding of astrology, poetry, and aromatherapy, the candles are the love child of scent artist Amaris Modesto (Sense the Experience), designer Neela Asaadi (Asaadi Graphics), and Ars Poetica’s own astro + tarot poet Christine Aprile. The candles burn fragrances unique to your sign’s element and particular tastes, and feature zodiac-inspired poems and a message of warmth and light on the labels.
“I never wanted to do a product line before because... well, to be frank, I think the world has plenty of products,” Lisa Ann said of her inclination to lead the project. “I knew if I was going to make a ‘thing’ it needed to have a totally unique approach, philosophy, and use, and it needed to be as low-impact as possible to the environment. Using soy wax and glass, simple scents, and the power of words and intentions, we have created an object that is a conduit for contemplation and inspiration, plants trees, and has no extra packaging, no plastics, no harmful chemicals. Not to brag but, it's basically perfect.”
In a digital-everything, ultrafast-paced world, it’s easy to forget to take a moment to ground yourself and connect with your intentions and bigger ideas. That’s what Astro Candles are all about— taking time to sit and connect with yourself while setting intentions (be it for the coming month or year) and reminding yourself of the qualities that ground and connect you to the world around you. Each candle is made to inspire and ground you, while reminding you that you’re on your own correct path and that you bring your own unparalleled light to the world.
“For me, the power of scent to evoke emotion and connection is unparalleled,” said Amaris about her contribution to the line, “I’ve been experimenting with the senses for years, often in collaboration with Lisa Ann, and I’m thrilled to handle the candles and chemistry element of this totally unique product line. Give them a sniff!”
And if setting monthly intentions isn’t quite your style, or you’re more interested in filling the room with a delicious scent that speaks to some part of your core while you put on a record and pour yourself (and maybe your lover) a glass of wine, they’re excellent for that, too.
As Neela put it: “#AstroCandles speaks to the part of me that is drawn to leading a balanced life of health, wellness, intention and spirituality. As someone who is personally so amazed by Astrology, I was so eager to get started on this collaboration as it showcases each individual as an expert in their field. When initially brainstorming the overall look for this series, the aesthetic immediately came to me. I did market research as I do with any branding project, and just let my creativity take over. We are so excited about this launch and hope it resonates with you as you kick off your new year!”
